Welcome to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society
The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (KWHS) has been saving lives since 1927. Now in its 82nd year the KWHS is one of the largest humane societies in Ontario serving one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas. Over 26,000 square feet of space allows us to hold 62 dogs, 119 cats and an assortment of birds, small mammals and reptiles. In emergency situations the Centre can be quickly altered to house up to 400 animals. The KWHS provides humane education, law enforcement, and sheltering of animals in this community. We do not receive any government funding.

On Friday, November 13th, 2009 an anonymous member of the K-W community showed how a random act of kindness can go a long way. This anonymous small donation recognizes the chore, dedication, time and energy it takes to be a foster family for the orphaned animals at the Centre.
With this Random Act of Kindness we will be able to purchase much needed supplies for an orphaned kitten. These supplies help nurture this kitten while in the most important stages of growth. Not only will it have a chance to grow healthy and strong, but it will have the opportunity to live life to its fullest and fill the lives of its new family and forever home with love.
In honour of this donation, we would like to recognize the Barker Family and all of our other foster families that go above and beyond to help us save lives every day.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (KWHS) is proud to be working with Meals on Wheels Community Support Connections and Iams to launch a new program called ‘AniMeals'. This is a pet-food-on-wheels program that provides regular meals, free of charge for the dogs and cats of homebound elderly and disabled people.
Most homebound individuals are somewhat isolated from the outside world. For these individuals, owning a pet can be especially meaningful. It provides companionship, diversion, and even a reason for living. The mission of the program is to help keep people and their companion pets together by eliminating one of the logistical and financial impediments to proper pet care.
Our Centre is proud to be working with Meals on Wheels on this very important venture.
For more information please contact Gail Blanchard-Arsenault, Volunteer Coordinator at (519) 745-5615. |
