Staff Choice    Waterloo Chronicle Pet of the Week

Welcome to our adoption room! All of animals listed here have been examined by a licenced veterinarian, given their first vaccine and been treated with Revolution (parasite control). They are micro-chipped for identification, have a voucher for a spay/neuter and they all come with a gift of one month of pet insurance. This insurance will cover up to $500 towards the treatment of more commonly seen medical conditions with a small deductible.

Adoption Prices

Free to good home?  Please read our cost comparision.

Cats and Kittens are $85.00 plus applicable taxes. A $75.00 refundable sterilization deposit is also required.

Dogs and Puppies range in price from $200.00 to $275.00 plus applicable taxes. The dogs are also subject to the $75.00 refundable sterilization deposit.

The Sterilization Deposit
The sterilization deposit is an added incentive to ensure all animals adopted from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society are spayed and neutered. This incentive was developed in conjunction with the municipalities as an effort to help in the battle against pet overpopulation. When you have your pet spayed or neutered, you will receive your $75.00 deposit back, along with an amount based on the fee schedule below:

Adoption Process
In order to adopt an animal from the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society, a family must be committed and dedicated to providing a permanent loving environment. All potential adopters must fill out an application, which is then examined by an Animal Care Attendant. The entire family must be present and all must agree that the animal chosen is right for the family. The Animal Care staff will then counsel the family to ensure that the animal chosen will fit with their lifestyle. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption at any time.

In the case of dog adoptions, any dogs that currently live in the home must meet the dog the family has chosen. This will allow the Animal Care staff to ensure that a correct match is made.

Most successful adopters can take their new pet home the same day. However, there are some instances where this will not be possible.

The Animal Care Staff is also available to speak with your family and help you decide which type of pet would best suit your lifestyle. Feel free to contact us.
