Who are the "Friends of the KW Humane Society"?                                        They are people just like you who want to help the unloved and the unwanted  animals of Kitchener-Waterloo.

What does the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society do?
The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (KWHS) reunites families with stray pets and cares for the stray animals of Kitchener-Waterloo. Some of our services include: Adoptions, Humane Education, Community Relations, Pet Visitation, Cruelty Investigations, By-Law Enforcement, Lost & Found, Volunteer/Foster Program, Pet Cemetery, and a Leash-Free Dog Park.

The KWHS is also contracted by the local municipalities to perform animal control activities, and to enforce by-laws.

Where does the money go?
There are a number of places the money could go—you tell us where you would like to help.

    °
Adoption Programs — Adoptathons, advertising, pet of the week promotions, our website, and keeping in touch with adoptive parents. We can't adopt them if people don't know they are here!

° Animal Care & Up-Keep — Although your money will assist in funding the food, medical attention and daily needs of the animals at the Centre. This program goes beyond just food and water; it helps us find new ways to enrich their lives.

° Behaviour Assessment — This unique program is designed to see how the adoption animal will respond in various situations, provide some training and ways to assist that animal in getting adopted.

° Building Fund — As the region grows, so must our Centre. We need to become bigger and better each passing year. Help us plan for the future.

° Education — Our education program reaches kids in schools and camps, and helps them understand responsible and humane treatment of animals. Truly, this program invests in the future by instilling the love of animals at a young age.

° Spay & Neuter Program — As a Spay and Neuter Centre, it is our wish that every animal that leaves our Centre be spayed or neutered.

° Wilf Fund— Help us help the stray, injured animals of our community.  All money received for the Wilf fund will go to paying medical costs for those animals without owners.

° General Operations — No one likes to give money to administrative costs, but let's face it, every business has them.

How can I help?

° Be a Constant Companion with a monthly contribution.  We accept cash, post-dated cheques, credit card or Pre-Authorized Withdrawal (PAW).

° We can also work with other schedules that may suit you.

You can make a financial donation by telephone, using your Visa or Mastercard. Please call 519.745.5615 to make a donation by phone.

We also accept donations online! Simply click the button below to make a donation using PayPal's secure service. Paypal is free to use. Your information is kept secure. You will receive a tax receipt with a donation of $25.00 or more.

Please note that there have been issues with customers making donations online being billed by their card companies in U.S. Dollars when using American Express or Diners Club. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control.

We always accept financial contributions in person at the Humane Society. You can donate financially using cash, Interac, Visa & Mastercard.
