Open House

Recap!

The Open House held on August 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. was a huge success!  Close to 1000 people strolled through the halls of the KWHS.  Some of the day’s highlights included a visit to the Humane Education interactive display, a demonstration of our Ultrasound Machine by our Veterinarian, a talk on Animal Welfare, visiting with the Cruelty Officer, our Volunteer Coordinator, Animal Care and By Law Control Officer.  In addition many came out to view the release of a Kestrel Hawk by Hawkeye Bird Control and hold Harra the Hawk an education bird.  Despite some late day rain that put a damper on the BBQ the day was a huge success all in all!

Since 1927, the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (KWHS) has been responsible for the welfare of animals in the twin cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and their surrounding communities.  KWHS is one of the largest humane societies in Ontario.  As a member of the community, our mission is to be a proactive leader in providing humane care through education, advocacy and enforcement to promote the well-being of all animals.
