PetNet Ceases Its Pet Recovery Services

From the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association Anitech PetNet has ceased to operate its pet recovery services, including all online and telephone services.

What Does This Mean For Pets Microchipped With PetNet Microchips Prior To January 1, 2003?

In  2004, PetNet sold its database of pets microchipped prior to January 1, 2003 to AVID Canada.

Pet owners of pets microchipped prior to January 1, 2003, who wish to update their information are therefore unaffected by the news and may continue to contact AVID at 1.800.338.1397. Veterinarians scanning a lost pet and finding a PetNet microchip should also contact AVID at the same number.

What Does This Mean for Pets Microchipped With PetNet Microchips On Or After January 1, 2003?

Prior to shutting down its pet recovery services, PetNet continued to service pet owners whose pets were microchipped on or after January 1, 2003.

Unfortunately, pet owners whose pets were microchipped on or after January 1, 2003 do not currently have access to their pets' microchip data information. Also, veterinarians and animal shelters seeking to find information relating to a lost pet do not currently have access to information for pets microchipped with the PetNet microchip on/after January 1, 2003.

OVMA (Onatio Veterinary Medical Association) is currently in discussions with pet recovery service providers to facilitate the transfer of data for those pets microchipped on/after January 1, 2003.
