Welcome to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society
Volunteers

Volunteering at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society takes on many shapesVolunteers and forms. You can volunteer to work directly with the animals, help with fundraising and special events, or do a combination of both. Some volunteer jobs have to be done after hours, while others can be done outside of traditional business hours. Whatever your choices, know that we appreciate the time and efforts given to help us help the animals.

Those who have an interest in working directly with the animals should be aware we deal with many species of animals at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. Therefore, we suggest that being comfortable with the many species, and having no known allergies, would be an asset in this area. Our minimum age requirement for volunteering is 14 years. Though the ability to drive is not a requirement, we do ask that the potential volunteer have the ability to meet commitments at the Centre, or other events.

What are your first steps to becoming a volunteer? First, fill out an application. You can drop it off, fax, email, or mail it to the Centre.  When there's a volunteer opportunity that suits your specifications, we'll be in touch!

We make every effort to make all our volunteers a part of the team. Without our core of volunteers, our pets wouldn’t get the love and attention they so desperately need.

Once again, thank you for considering volunteering at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society.

If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer at the Centre, just fill our individual application form or our family application form and drop it off at 250 Riverbend Drive.

Individual volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.

Animal Fostering Program

Foster Volunteers care for immature, mildly sick or injured animals, and animals in need of socialization. This program is perfect for those who may not be able to commit to an animal for it's entire life.

Unfortunately, due to the small number of animals to be placed, we will not be able to accommodate all applicants.

If you are interested in our Animal Fostering Program, please complete this form (Adobe PDF) and deliver it to our Centre.
