Hi there everyone!

My name is Star – and basically, my name is a true representation of who I am! I am the Star of the Centre! But it hasn’t always been that way. I was found in Waterloo as a little 6-month old stray kitten. I was brought into the Centre at the end of January 2007 and I had a severely injured tail which had to be amputated. After a couple months recovering from my surgery I had melted the hearts of all the Staff and we couldn’t bare to part with each other. The Staff asked the boss and he welcomed me as the newest staff member to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society... I even get paid in treats! For fun I like to clean computer screens, I sit right in front of them and paw at the screen! And since I am a pretty smart cat – I like to chase the mouse pointer on a computer screen! Other than helping at the front desk, I like to laze around the Centre, listening and learning. I also enjoy taking naps and I am not picky where it is – in the linen closet, sprawled across your chair or on your desk covering your work! But I will give you a warning – if you leave food on your desk, it is fair game, and I will eat it!

I can’t wait to get your questions – from being around the Centre for the last year I have learned so much and I can’t wait to share that with you!

Hey, I’m Yuri.

You may remember asking ‘Harvey’ your dog questions in the past but Harvey has decided to retire and I’m filling in for him!

I’m a three-year old Black Lab and I have a special job at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. They call me the "Education Dog". Each day I go to schools with my owner and we teach children about being responsible pet owners. It is a cool job because I am meeting new kids every day -and staff and teachers too! I get to help the children practice what they’ve learned about safely approaching a dog and I also get to do tricks for the children at the end of each presentation. That’s when I get my treats! After work, I go home with my owner to our big farm where I have lots of room to play and run during my time off from work.

I was originally trained to be a guide dog by "Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind", but I didn’t pass. I guess you can’t be following scents wherever they lead you when you’re guiding a blind person! But all that training paid off and people tell us every day how well behaved I am.

With all that time I spend at school my friends at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society figured I’d be the perfect one to answer all your dog questions. So send me an email and I will answer you the best I can!
