fr8-lucasThanks to Lucas for thinking of the K-W Humane Society all year long! For the last year, Lucas has been busy saving his allowance. He helped out around the house by taking out the trash and washing the dishes!  His helpfulness at home can really go a long way for the pets here at the Centre.  Someday, Lucas hopes to have a dog and a parrot of his very own!

Thank you for working as hard as you did all year long and raising $35.76.

Keep up the great work!

fr7-teamworkA lot of good can be done when you work as a team. That’s exactly what the Youth Group from Westminster United Church did. They hosted a bake sale to raise money for the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. Each youth group member baked something special and sold it to the church congregation one Sunday after service. In total, ten youth, ages 12-17, participated. This is the second time they had a bake sale and raised money for the pets here at the Centre. They enjoy FUN-raising because they are pet owners and pet lovers themselves!

Thank you to the Youth Group from Westminster United Church for your donation of $94.37.

fr6-ethanThemed parties can be a lot of fun and held for a good cause. Ethan, who just turned four, celebrated by having a ‘Rock Band’ party! His friends who attended were rock stars themselves by donating supplies from the Centre’s wish list. Instead of asking for anything for himself, Ethan asked for things like cat litter, cleaning supplies, toys, dog treats and kitten milk. Even at four years old, Ethan knows how important donations are to the Centre. Thanks to Ethan’s mom and younger sister Avery for helping him drop off the birthday donations at the Centre.

Thanks Ethan!

fr5-bakesaleHuge Bake Sale!

What can one class of 32 students do to help their local orphaned pets? Host a bake sale! That’s exactly what the grade eight students from Centennial Public School did. The entire school was participating in a community service project with their homerooms. Each homeroom had to pick a different charity and raise money, and boy did they ever!  These young pastry chefs in training raised over $205.00! The grade eight class chose the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society to raise money for because they are pet lovers, and many of the students have pets of their own. The bake sale was held Wednesday January 28th, 2009.

Thanks to all the students at Centennial Public School, from all of the Staff and pets at the Centre!

fr4-marilenaIt was all about the animals at Marilena’s birthday this year! She just turned nine years old and hosted one animal themed party! Marilena’s eleven party guests got to go horse back riding and then paint bird houses! Marilena really knows how important all animals are whether they live indoors or outside. So, not only did Marilena help animals out by building them a home, she also asked for her guests to donate to the Centre instead of asking for presents for herself.  The $220.00 raised will help animals here at the Centre by keeping them happy and healthy.

Marilena is a real animal lover through and through. She has a three year old Irish Terrier as a pet of her own.
