fr3-amandaWhat’s an old fashioned way to raise a lot of money? Well just ask Amanda and Erika! These 11 year old FUNraisers have it down pat; they raised over $320.00 by having a Valentine’s Day Tea for their family and friends.

In order to be able to put on the fundraiser the girls used their own money to buy items for the tea. They charged $10.00 for people to attend and then sold tickets for raffle. The girls are event planners in training as they had munchies, punch, games for kids and even animal themed prizes.

They have raised money before from holding a garage sale and even hosting an arts and craft sale. On behalf of these young ladies, thank you to all who attended. It was a great afternoon!

fr1-maiyaThere are so many creative and unique ways to raise money. One of the Centre’s FUNraisers, Maiya, decided she would skip with a jump rope to raise money. Maiya and her friends skipped in front of a post office for almost three hours non-stop! People that visited the post office saw what a great job the girls were doing and donated money. The girls learned that not only is skipping a good form of exercise, more importantly it’s a fun and unique way to raise money. Though it was a lot of work and it was tiring, these girls knew how important it is for the animals.

These young girls wanted to raise enough money to help feed all of the animals at the Centre.

Thanks for helping support the animals. We hope you had fun FUNraising, you did a great job!

fr0-MiniWalkEvery year at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society we have our annual Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-thon. Many dog owners and local community members come out to participate and raise funds to keep the Centre running and the pets happy.

The Centre was fortunate to have an ambitious group of students from Conestoga College in a Project Management class take the reins and hold a walk-a-thon of their own. There were eight participants ranging from family, students and one dog. The walk was held on Saturday, March 21st, 2009 on the college campus.

The walk-a-thon was to fulfill a class requirement while managing a project and making it successful. The students had a goal to raise $200 and they were able to raise $400.

Congratulations students from Conestoga College! Keep up the great work!
